I am contacting you on behalf of Nancy Erlick and her unique “Once Upon A Farm” project. Her project address childhood obesity and promotes healthy lifestyles.
Children’s obesity remains a top national health care problem, and increasing awareness in girls and boys and their parents is a critical first step in fighting this epidemic. In fact, Michelle Obama has made the childhood obesity fight top of her agenda. Nancy’s project has been successful in the pediatric practices of Martin Health Systems in Stuart, Fl. The coloring books are engaging and fun to read, and are available to all of the Pediatric patients in the exam rooms and to take home.
Patient feedback has been very positive. The project communicates valuable lessons about the importance of consuming an expansive range of fruits and vegetables and about daily physical ecercise to assure a strong and conditioned body.
The pediatric office pediatricians and staff, as well as hospital administrators, share the enthusiasm that the “Once Upon A Farm” project has brough to our hospital system.
I urge you to consider implementing this effective project in your pediatric offices in support of the national fight against childhood obesity.
Sincerely,
Genon Wicina MD
